Hello all,

I am currently using Spatial Technology's ACIS 4.0 for my research at university. I have just come discovered Opencascade and am seriously considering adopting it.

Has anyone compared the two kernels for ease of use, functionality, performance etc?

As far as I remember DH BROWN has made a paper on Cascade mentionning advantages vs ACIS but it is available for suscribers only.

Cascade is more than a modeling Kernel as it provides with an application framework for visualization, selection, parametrics, non-geometrical foundation classes if necessary etc ..

And it doesn't cost hundreds of thousands of dollars/euros to implement.
