Description

Local DTN environment provides some additional settings for Emacs tailored for
OCCT development: CDL syntax highlighing, specific tools devoted to development
of OCCT under WOK, etc.

The basic set of settings has been created yet in 1997 by FUN (suffered only a
few punctual fixes since then) and is currently located in [user path removed]/emacs
(different copy on each platform). During the years some persons (developers)
have created their own branches of standard settings, or additional ones. At
least four of these versions (ones on EAP, MSV, DET, and AVO) are re-used (in
whole or by part) by other developers. This leads to high variety of settings
used, none of which is complete.

In order to provide consistent environment, usable on all working platforms, to
all users inside DTN, it is necessary first to unify existing environments:

- Define single place to put common settings
- Define access rights and procedure to update the settings (preferably using
CVS)
- Unify existing settings (from [user path removed]/emacs directories on all
platforms, and local users) and make single version integrating all reusable
things (not necessarily loaded by default, so that each user can decide what to
use)
- Describe items that are available, and how to use them
- Ensure correct work on different platforms (including versions of Emacs -
currently versions 1.19-2.22 are used). It is sufficient to have one documented
configuration for each platform that must work out-of-the-box

Note that resulting settings can be later sold or given to Support customers as
additional benefit
