Read OBJ for STEP XML output
Transfer OBJ meshes into a STEP XML workflow with the OBJ reader and STEP XML writer. This route carries polygonal geometry in the receiving document; it does not recreate the original CAD surfaces or feature history.
Read Wavefront OBJ polygonal geometry through the OCCT workflow. Check the associated material resources and object grouping where these are used by the source asset. Keep the geometry and its required companion files together.
Choose the STEP XML representation and extension
This is a mesh-to-mesh route. Preserve the available surface triangles, apply the required placements and map only the attributes supported by both the reader and writer. It does not reconstruct a CAD feature history or analytic BRep.
Write STPX, STPA, STPZ or STPZX with the STEP XML component. It supports BRep and mesh data, assemblies, names, colors and STEP attributes. Transfer only the source information available through the complete route; the target can carry mesh without turning it into analytic geometry.
Check the STEP XML result
Check object grouping, orientation and units with the receiving application. Normals and material references need explicit validation, particularly when the source uses external resources.
Reopen the selected STEP XML variant with the intended consumer. Check geometry representation, placements, names and colors, and explicitly verify any required attributes. Use the agreed extension and application version for repeatable interchange.
Discuss this conversion with the producing and receiving applications, representative files and required geometry and attributes. Compare the reader/writer catalog when a different representation is needed.
