Prepare PTS geometry for VRML
The PTS-to-VRML route uses the PTS reader, mesh preparation and the VRML writer. Choose the geometry and representation required by the destination application.
Read the PTS scan data through the point-cloud interface. Select the scan region needed by the destination, establish units and alignment, and inspect sampling density and missing areas before constructing a surface.
Prepare a VRML visualization derivative
A surface-mesh destination requires face connectivity, not just point positions. Reconstruct the required surface from the imported points, then tessellate it or prepare the resulting polygonal mesh. Surface from Scattered Points provides a surface-fitting workflow to evaluate for this preparation step.
Write the selected mesh representation through the OCCT VRML interface for a consumer that expects WRL or VRML. Map the geometry, placements and supported appearance information required by that viewer. Keep precise CAD topology and unsupported attributes in the engineering source.
Validate the converted model
Compare the reconstructed surface against the scan, including gaps, noise and sparse regions. Specify fitting tolerances and how boundaries or missing areas are handled. The mesh is a derived surface whose accuracy depends on the source samples and reconstruction settings.
Open the output in the receiving VRML application and check scale, orientation and part positions. Verify the actual appearance mapping and any resource references. Compare the tessellation against the viewing task rather than judging fidelity from successful file loading alone.
For repeated jobs, retain the source, preparation settings and representative output checks. Discuss this conversion with the input files, destination application and required geometry and attributes.
