OCCT conversion workflows

XCAF to DXF

Convert XCAF to DXF using supported mesh or BRep entities. Map geometry and placements for the receiving CAD application.

Build this conversion into your application with OCCT readers, writers and the commercial components identified below.

Read XCAF for DXF output

A XCAF-to-DXF workflow connects the XCAF reader to the DXF writer. Select the model items and output representation needed by the receiving application.

Read the native XCAF document with the OCCT storage interface matching its file type. Inspect document shapes, assembly occurrences and attributes before selecting the part of the document to exchange.

Select DXF entities for the transferred model

Choose BRep or mesh geometry according to the actual shapes in the document and the destination. Resolve assembly placements and map supported names and colors. Native document storage can contain application information that another CAD or scene format does not represent.

Configure the DXF writer for the receiving application and the selected geometry. The interface supports BRep and mesh export; use an entity representation the consumer accepts. Decide how model names, colors and drawing organization should map rather than assuming every CAD application interprets them identically.

Check the DXF result

Check occurrence placement separately from shared part geometry. Validate transferred labels and attributes, and keep the source XCAF document when application-specific data or edit structure needs to be retained.

Reopen the DXF in the target application and inspect entity coverage, units and placements. Verify that the receiver handles the written bodies or meshes as intended. A surface-mesh export is not an automatically generated 2D manufacturing drawing.

Discuss this conversion with the producing and receiving applications, representative files and required geometry and attributes. Compare the reader/writer catalog when a different representation is needed.
