Prepare XPDMXML geometry for USD / USDZ
The XPDMXML-to-USD / USDZ route uses the XPDMXML reader, mesh preparation and the USD / USDZ writer. Choose the geometry and representation required by the destination application.
Read the XPDMXML product data through its interface and resolve the geometry required by the selected model items. Keep referenced model resources available; product structure without its geometric content cannot supply an export mesh.
Prepare a USD scene from the imported geometry
Prepare meshes for the resolved shapes, keeping part occurrences and their placements consistent. Use suitable source meshes directly or tessellate BRep surfaces at the required detail.
Write USD, USDZ or USDA through the USD component. Map supported names, part placements and appearance into the scene. The component supports meshes, primitives, metadata, materials and animations, but this conversion can preserve only data actually available from the source or explicitly authored by the application.
Validate the converted model
Check geometry completeness and reference resolution before judging the output. Product identifiers, revisions and other management data need an explicit destination mapping or a separate retained record.
Reopen the scene in the receiving USD application. Compare axis conventions, unit scale, hierarchy, repeated parts and material assignments. Review external resources or packaging for the chosen output variant; the retained CAD source remains the reference for precise modeling.
For repeated jobs, retain the source, preparation settings and representative output checks. Discuss this conversion with the input files, destination application and required geometry and attributes.
