From source file to usable output

CAD and mesh conversion guides

Build file conversion into an engineering application. Choose the source and target, then follow the reader, representation and writer needed for the result.

One workflow, several geometry representations

BRep to mesh

Imported BRep surfaces can be tessellated and passed to an available mesh writer. Choose surface detail, selected parts and output attributes for visualization, printing or further processing.

Mesh to mesh

Supported mesh readers and writers can be combined through the OCCT workflow. Existing triangles can transfer without reconstructing CAD surfaces. Structure and appearance depend on both interfaces.

STEP, STEP XML and DXF

These interfaces support mesh import and export as well as BRep workflows. A mesh can be exchanged through a CAD format while retaining its polygonal representation.

DXF bodies and meshes can feed mesh outputs; curve-only drawings need surface construction when the target requires a surface mesh. A writable format and suitable data representation are needed for each destination. Compare the complete reader/writer catalog.

Combine readers and writers for additional formats

Every supported input format can enter a mesh-output workflow. Read the source geometry, prepare its surface representation and select an available mesh writer: STL, OBJ, PLY, glTF / GLB, USD, JT, VRML or FBX. Assimp Import supplies additional mesh and asset readers; pair it with the writer needed by the receiving application. Point clouds require surface reconstruction, finite-element volumes need an appropriate boundary mesh, and product-data inputs need their referenced geometry. Read-only inputs such as Parasolid do not become export formats through tessellation.

For batch processing, define per-file configuration, error reporting, output naming and checks for geometry and attributes. These are integration guides for SDK and service evaluation; the pages do not upload or convert files online.
